Lord, let me dwell with Thee each day,
Far from the paths of sin, I pray;
Who dwells with God lives not his own,
He lives the life his Lord has shown.
He who lives by God's will is strong,
Evil shall never rule his soul;
But he whose heart serves flesh and sin
Is dead to all the things of God.
If foes should lay their hands on you,
At last, your glory falls in shame;
Where anger lives, there hatred grows,
And Satan joins more sin to sin.
These fiends seek partners in their work,
They move in bands to work their harm.
So God gave laws to guide His own,
That sin might never rule their lives.
All who would live in God the Son
Must leave the ways that please the world;
To love the world is war with God,
Yet God made not the world for sin.
Then learn to bear the life you have,
Know God has laid no weight on you;
He seeks the best that lies in you,
To draw your soul back home to Him.
